Afghan Girls Empowerment Program

KPK, Pakistan

The United Nations named Afghanistan the deadliest place for children on earth for six consecutive years.

The rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation has left girls uncertain about their future, including if and when they will be able to go back to school. Some 51,000 girls of age 5 to 18 are out of school and have no secondary level opportunities in Refugee villages.

Current Situation: The less than 10% of girls who complete a full cycle of primary education terminate their schooling as there are no post-primary education opportunities in Refugee villages. Some 51000 girls of age 5 to 18 are out of school while approx. 13,700 are enrolled. Only 2,800 girls graduate from the Primary level out of a total of 12,120 girls but have no secondary level opportunities in Refugee villages. The remaining 10,900 don’t complete the primary cycle.

RGW is establishing 14 Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) Centers in KP, Pakistan which will provide 1050 refugee girls a 2nd chance who dropped out or discontinued their studies. In this program free uniforms, textbooks, bags, notebooks, and classroom supplies are provided to girls to continue their education.

Girls-only Accelerated Learning Programmes with exclusively female staff was established to increase access for never to school (NTS) and dropped out girls (DOs) to primary schooling. For ALP in KP, girls complete a full cycle of 32 months for primary enrolled girls and move to the middle level, but there is no mechanism available in the RV schools for the continuation of their studies at the lower secondary and secondary level. Mothers are involved to allow girls to learn in a safe learning environment with a female teacher.

For us at RGW, we consider learning as the best way in which we can build a community from within. This is why we are in need of your support to ease the anxiety and fear of these kids.
Supporting one child's education has a “Multiplier effect”: when you support a child, you encourage them to study, be a good person, able to secure their future, and be aware of the importance of education for themselves and for future generations. You can break the cycle of poverty by educating them.

Imagine how much rewards you will get for:

📖     Every letter they read.
👨‍🎓     Every kid you save from child labor.
🤝     Building the capacity of the local community

Your support, no matter how humble it is, can help change their lives forever.

The program is Zakat Eligible and with RGW maximum money will go directly to the girls in need.
